THE NEED
The Habitat office receives many calls throughout the year from people in need of decent housing. “Application Drives” are conducted periodically as current building projects progress and those homes are settled. The organization employs a rigorous screening process to identify and select those who will become future partner families. Applications are solicited in both counties through newspaper, radio, online, and community information board advertising, and 30 or more applications may be received. Many times there are more qualified applicants than can be accepted resulting in families continuing to live in substandard housing. At times we have a waiting list of over a year. With sufficient resources the need could be met.
